Abre Mis Ojos (Open My Eyes)

This week has been a wonderful week. God has really blessed our team in so many ways. Through a group of fellow believers from Georgia, the Lord has encouraged and strengthened me through their spirit of unity and love.  The way they loved our team and included us in their week was an incredible example of Christ´s love and how the body of Christ should work. Through our conversations and devotions the Lord has challenged me to grow, seek and go out into the world preaching His gospel with the authority He has given me. As Isaiah 50:4 says, ¨The Sovereign Lord has given me and instructed tongue, to know the word that sustains the weary. He wakens me morning by morning, wakens my ear to listen like one being taught.¨ The Lord is growing and teaching me in so many ways. He is using the people He has placed in my life to shape me into the women He has created me to be. As He is ¨wakening my ear to listen¨ the Lord continues to whisper ¨trust in me, I love you and will provide for you..¨
And did the Lord provide this week! Because we worked with the group from Georgia this week we had the opportunity to do a variety of different ministries from door-to-door evangelism, to orphanage work, to doing children and youth programs all over Cochabamba and the surrounding towns. Last night we had the priveledge of doing a youth program in Kara Kara.
Kara Kara is a rough area. It is a neighborhood that is built around the dump here in Cochabamba. The first time we went into this area was last Sunday for church. I was bouncing around in the vans as we drove over the gravel streets and looking at the houses made out of clay and whatever spare parts they could find. As we rode through I really felt the need of this community for the hope and light of the Lord.
There is a small church in Kara Kara that meets outside under some tarps and tin roof structure. This church was started by a FAITHFUL pastor here in Cochabamba named Tomas. He is really bringing light into this village of darkness and a place that is crying out for the hope of the Lord.
At the youth program there were about 30 or so 11-18 year-olds. Our group was asked to share a song with the youth so we decided on ¨Open the Eyes of My Heart Lord¨. As we sang some of the youth began to sing the song but in Spanish.”Abre mis ojos o Cristo, Obre mis ojos Senor…¨ It was an incredible moment under a tin roof, in a dump (literally) worshiping in different languages the same God. It reminded me of what Paul wrote to the Romans in Romans 15:5-6 ¨May the God who gives endurance and encouragement give you a spirit of unity among yourselves as you follow Christ Jesus, so that with one heart and mouth you may glorify the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ.¨
Even though we were speaking in different languages and came from different places we truely were worshipping and glorifying God with one voice and one heart. This moment was like a hug from God because there is NOTHING I love more than meeting brothers and sisters in Christ who are from different places, cultures and families living and lifting up the name of the Lord.
The Lord is truely opening my eyes and wakening my ears to listen to wherever He is leading me!

Please continue to pray for myself and my team! Your prayers are working and the Lord is wrecking my life… I LOVE IT! Also please be praying for the Lords provision for the church in Kara Kara and that His light would iliminate all darkness there!
