La Casa Kids

God has been revealing to me over this trip my purpose here in Bolivia and on our team and my purpose in general- in the body of Christ. I wrote a blog earlier about La Casa De Amistad, my second visit there I met the older girls who are so beautiful and amazing and God instantly gave me a heart for them. I watch these girls interact with each other and laugh and play and I feel like they are my biological sisters. This past week I had the opportunity to go back to La Casa and hang out with them again. I was talking to a missionary today about...

Light and Life: a Theology of Identity

If there were a couple words to describe week 4 they would be:  awesomegrowthwithGod — all shoved together because I feel as though I have been yanked through a intricate mess of thoughts/ideas/beliefs/truths in a limited amount of time.   Ephesians 5:9 was the verse that instigated my journey:  for it´s the light that brings a rich harvest of every kind of goodness, righteousness, and truth.    On a biological basis the sun is the source of life.   Plants caputure light from the sun and turn it into storable energy, which allows plants to grow and...

Palabra de Vida Missionaries

So over the past week Hannah had I have had the privilege of collecting testimonies and photos of all of the missionaries that work here with Palabra de Vida (Word of Life). I say that this is a privilege because Hannah and I have been so honored to be able to hear the testimonies and learn more of their hearts. Their passion and desire to serve is such an encouragement to see. There are almost 30 missionaries and they do everything from teaching in the bible school to cooking and cleaning for the masses. Every single individual is truly amazing and we love them! All of these people are in...

Not Just a Friendly Traveler

Hi all! Anna, Amanda and I had the oppurtunity to come into town today so I decided to post some of my thoughts.  As we were riding public transportation (love it) into the city I was looking at all the people that we were passing by, the homeless, the broken, the damaged…and I was just thinking- I don´t want to sit by and just smile at people….Christ has given us authority to love deeply, to preach the gospel, for Him to change others through our actions and words.  For so long, fear has dominated my choices and actions…too scared to be bold or try new things,...

Stretched And Blessed

On one of our first days in Cochabamba, we were told that an American team from a church in Georgia would join us. We were filled with excitement and questions. Would we get along with this team? How old is this group? What will we be doing for the week? Who is this infamous Richard that people keep on talking about?             The day of their arrival seemed to go on forever. They were supposed to arrive around lunchtime on...

God is Love

From Week 2:    In Luke 19 the Pharisees told Jesus to rebuke his disciples for praising God loudly for the miracles he had done and Jesus responded, Ïf they keep quiet, the stones will cry out.¨ God will be praised regardless of whether I do it or not, but I really am glad to be praising Him right now. The ¨theme¨ of this trip is ¨The easiest thing to do is nothing.¨ And, that´s what I´ve been learning this week. This week a woman asked that 4 members of out team would go with her to the women´s prison here in Cochabamba. After praying about it I was given a word to speak to...
